Aquamarine gets its name from the Latin aqua marina — water of the sea. The ancient Romans believed it was the sacred stone of Neptune, god of the ocean, washed ashore from the treasure chests of mermaids. Sailors carried it for protection, believing it would calm rough seas and shield them from the seductive calls of the sirens. It is historically where we get the tradition of "something blue" for a wedding — a custom that began in India, where aquamarine was originally abundant, as a gift of good luck for the bride and groom before traveling west.
An 8 on the Mohs scale. Cool to the touch. Part of the beryl family, with those unmistakable blue-green tones that shift depending on the light. Every stone is natural, mined, and entirely its own — unique shape, unique edges, one of a kind.
The Neptune Ring features a solid 14k gold double band setting with a 20mm natural raw aquamarine stone. The rawness of the stone against the refined gold band is the whole point — ancient and modern, wild and considered, completely LaRue.
Available in solid 14k yellow, white, or rose gold. Sizes 3–16.
Handmade in Kingston, NY using 100% recycled precious metals. Each stone is hand selected — natural inclusions and variations are part of what makes this piece one of a kind.
